The best way to learn civic campaign skills is on the campaign trail. This session gets you started and provides a roadmap for participation in the 2018 municipal election.

This event is part of the Democracy Workshops, created in partnership with DemocracyKit as part of TPL's new On Civil Society series.

Chris Cowperthwaite is Co-Chair of Open Democracy Project, a not-for-profit working to empower everyday citizens to drive change through civic and political action. Open Democracy Project programs include:

DemocracyKit - Resource library for planning and running municipal election and other civic campaigns. Resources are donated by campaign practitioners and made available publicly under a creative commons licence at democracykit.org.

DemocracyXChange - A summit and platform to connect civic campaign practitioners across borders. Learn more at democracyxchange.org.

Chris holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business (York University), a B.Sc. (Honours) and Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Waterloo, and is a Loran Scholar ('99).
